1.1 New Features

·         6270 : The Spira Updater has been simplified.

·         6271 : Mobile client updates are now initiated via a dedicated Spira.Express.Client message.

·         6363 : Enabled Dynamic Forms (PDF) as new 'ticket type' available only through new licensing module.

·         6368 : Configured default item and personnel grid filters on the Spira TourSheet

·         6410 : Spira.Client.Updater: Display error message if update files are inaccessible (ie. due to network/internet/proxy issues)

·         6477 : Spira.Client.Updater will attempt to download and execute patch 9 times before informing user to contact system admin

3.1 Corporate

Please ensure your system is at 4.8.9.9 before upgrading to 4.8.11.27

Corporate Server upgrade is manual and requires system knowledge.
This guide will instruct you how to upgrade the default
C:\Program Files\Spira Data Corp\Spira installation with all default installation directories, names, and Databases.

If you are running a multi-divsion/tenant configuration each step must be repeated for each instance and you MUST use OPTION2. Ie:
C:\Program Files\Spira Data Corp\yourCompanyTraining
C:\Program Files\Spira Data Corp\yourCompanyProduction

Pre-Req

1.     Turn off Spira services at services.msc:

1.     Spira Message Queueing

2.     Spira Message Processor

2.     Backup your Application + Messaging Databases:

1.     Spira

2.     SpiraMessaging

Steps

Obtain Update package

1.     Download 481127patch-Corporate.zip:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/Spira.4.8.11.x/481127patch-Corporate.zip

2.     Extract 481127patch-Corporate.zip to a temporary location, ie. C:\SOURCE\481127patch-Corporate
It will contain folders/files:

1.     \1 APP

2.     \2 SQL

3.     Spira 4.8.11 Patch 1 Release Notes.pdf (this document)

Patch Corporate Application files

1.     Locate your \Spira instance, C:\Program Files\Spira Data Corp\Spira

2.     OPTION1 - Patch Execute

1.     copy  FROM: C:\SOURCE\481127patch-Corporate\1 APP\Corporate481127.exe

§  TO C:\Program Files\Spira Data Corp\Spira

1.     Execute Corporate48127.exe

3.     OPTION2 : Manual filecopy/replace

o    Unzip archive FROM
C:\SOURCE\481127patch-Corporate\1 APP\4.8.11.27.Spira.Corporate.zip

o    TO C:\Program Files\Spira Data Corp\Spira

o    Copy/replace Spira.Command.MessageProcessing.zip FROM

1.     Locate your, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spira Data Corp\Processors\Spira\

1.     Delete all files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spira Data Corp\Processors\Spira\

2.     Copy Spira.Command.MessageProcessing.zip

o    FROM \481127patch-Corporate\1 APP\OPTION2\

o    TO C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spira Data Corp\Processors\Spira\

Patch Databases

1.     Connect to your MS SQL Server using SQL Management Studio (or tool of choice)

2.     Execute on Application Database, Spira

o    Patch_489_to_4810.sql

o    Patch_4810_to_4811.sql

§  The individual patches included in the suites, are included for completeness in sub folders \PatchXXX_to_YYY

o    ProductVersion.sql

3.     Execute on Messaging Database, SpiraMessaging

o    MPatch003-DropMessagingProcs.sql

o    MPatch002-MessagingProcs.sql

Modify Configuration, Create new token

1.     Start > Programs > Spira Data Corp > Spira Configuration Tool

2.     Change the “Application Version”

1.     FROM 4.8.9.9

2.     TO 4.8.11.27

3.     [Save]

4.     Create Token, save. ie. version-server-dbasename_port.tok or 4.8.11.27-myServer-myDB_9669.tok This will be used for any new installs of Command or Mobile.

o    This NEW token should be used for all NEW installs. Tokens/Configuration files are version specific: Application Version will not correctly reflect the application being installed.


 

3.2 Command

Pre-Req

Steps

1.     Startup Command

2.     (depends on system) Application Database Chooser: pick the DB that corresponds to the correct system

3.     Command checks the Corporate  server application DB to determine if it is required to update

4.     Spira Command will exit

5.     Spira.Client.Updater will startup, Click ‘Retry’ to begin upgrade process

6.     Follow on screen instructions
You are now upgraded to
4.8.11.27

7.     Restart Spira Command

8.     Login     


 

3.3 Mobile

Pre-Req

Steps

1.     Startup Spira Express Client

2.     “Request Latest Offline Store”
You will be notified that your Application will upgrade on next startup

3.     Run Start > Program Files > Spira Data Corp > Spira Mobile

4.     Mobile will exit
You will be notified to exit: Spira Mobile + Spira Express Client

5.     Exit Spira Express Client : right-click the tray icon, ‘Close/Exit’

6.     Click ‘Retry’ to begin upgrade process

7.     Follow on screen instructions
You are now upgraded to
4.8.11.27

8.     Restart Spira.Express.Client + Spira Mobile
